There are a number of options available for support with fees, including Bursaries. The awards vary according to the level of family income and are reviewed annually.
It is our intention that a High School of Dundee education should be available to any pupil who would benefit from it, regardless of their financial circumstances. Financial assistance is therefore provided to support those pupils who without that help may otherwise be unable to attend. As a guideline, should your gross household income be in excess of £70,000 you are unlikely to receive bursary support.
Bursary support ranges from 10% to 100% of your tuition fees and a typical level of award is between 20% to 60% of the tuition fee. The majority of bursaries are awarded for pupils in Senior Years with limited Junior bursaries available for pupils in L6 and L7.
Prospective parents who would like to be considered for bursary support for their child for entry in August 2025 must first complete our online Junior & Senior Years Application Form no later than 31st October 2024. We will then invite your child to come along to one of our entrance assessment visits.
There will be other non-bursary applicants also sitting their assessment during this visit, however none of the staff supervising on the day are aware who is applying for bursary support as this information is kept confidential.
‘My daughter has done nothing but thrive since she came to the school and has grown into a very capable young lady. What more could parents ask for?!’
As bursary support is awarded based on your child’s academic ability together with your financial means, your child must score highly in the entrance assessment to be put forward for consideration for a bursary. Shortly after your child’s assessment we will advise you of their results and you may then be sent a Bursary Application Form to complete by 29th November 2024.
If your child performs well but does not qualify for bursary support, you may still be offered a full fee-paying place at our school.
Current High School of Dundee parents who would like to apply for a new bursary or a top-up of an existing bursary for session 2025/26 onwards must apply through the usual process and obtain an application form from the Chief Operating Officer, at bursaries@highschoolofdundee.org.uk
The deadline for such applications is Friday 29th November 2024.
It is recognised that having three or more children at the school involves a significant financial commitment. A remission of a proportion of the fees will therefore be granted to families who have three or more children attending the School at any one time. In addition, where three or more children attend at any one time, families may apply for a discretionary remission.
For further information on these family remissions and on help with fees, please see the following guides:
