HSD pupil sings his way to major UK music title

HSD pupil wins UK Rotary Young Musician title

An HSD pupil has sung his way to a major UK music title!

Congratulations to Nathan who at the weekend was crowned the winner of the vocalist category in the Rotary Great Britain and Ireland Young Musician competition!

The F6 pupil overcame five other regional winners at the grand final in London to add the UK crown to the Scottish title which he had won for the second time earlier this month.

He gave a recital of Sea Fever by John Ireland, On The Street Where You Live from My Fair Lady and Anthem from the musical Chess.

His performance, accompanied by our Director of Music, Dr Lionel Steuart Fothringham, captivated the audience and earned him the votes of the judges.

Rector Lise Hudson, said, “Winning an award such as this really shines a national spotlight on the quality of the music making at HSD.

“Congratulations to Nathan, to Lionel Steuart Fothringham, to Rosie McDonald and all the music department and staff who have been part of Nathan’s journey so far!”

Well done Nathan! What an achievement!
