Winifred, who preferred to be known as Margaret, and her time at the school were interrupted as a result of the war. Her education began in the Junior school however, after being evacuated, she attended school at Kirriemuir for a few years before returning to finish her education at the High School of Dundee.
After leaving school, she studied physiotherapy in Glasgow then went on to work in both Aberdeen and Bath before returning to Dundee in the mid- 1950s to work at the Royal Infirmary. It was during this time that she met her future husband and fellow former pupil, Stewart Anton, Class of 1943. They married in 1958.
Margaret enjoyed travelling and toured Europe with school friends before settling down. In her later years, she travelled to Botswana, India and Malawi to visit her son Alastair and to Norway to visit her granddaughter Siobhan.
Upon retiring, Margaret and Stewart moved to Newbigging where they were both elders of the Parish Church before its closure. Stewart sadly passed away in November 2013.
Margaret is survived by her sons Kenneth, Class of 1977 and Alastair, Class of 1982, granddaughters Siobhan, Sonia and Mhairi and great-grandson Rory.
